What are Platelets and Why are They Important?

What are Platelets and Why are They Important?
Platelets are the tiny blood cells that helps to stop bleeding by binding together to form a clump or plug at sites of injury within blood vessels.

What is a healthy platelet count?A normal platelet count ranges from 1,50,000 to 4,50,000 platelets per microliter of blood. Having more than 4,50,000 platelets could be a condition known as Thrombocytosis, but less than 150,000 is known as Thrombocytopenia. You get your platelet number from a routine blood testing called a complete blood count (CBC).

What it means to have too many platelets (Thrombocytosis)
If you have too many platelets, it can increase your risk for clotting. For example, you could have a healthy number of platelets, but if they’re sticking together too much it can increase your probability of getting a  heart attack or stroke.

What it means to have too few platelets (Thrombocytopenia)
When you don’t have enough platelets, it’s referred to as  Thrombocytopenia. Symptoms include easy bruising, and frequent injury from the gums, nose, or GI tract. Your platelet count drops when one thing is preventing your body from manufacturing  platelets. There is a large vary of causes, including:

Medications
An transmissible condition
Certain forms of cancer, like cancer of the blood or cancer
Chemotherapy treatment for cancer
Kidney infection or pathology
Too much alcohol

Keeping track of your plateletsToo few platelets, many platelets, too  abnormally functioning platelets, and connected  conditions like blood clots, strokes, and heart attacks may be  inherited, thus  it’s a honest plan  to alert your doctor once there's a family affiliation.

Although you will feel fine, your medical practitioner would possible need to stay an in depth eye  on you and investigate whether or not you need medications to scale back the functioning of your platelets. The commonest  blood-thinning medication is aspirin, though recent studies have shown that girl under 65 who are otherwise healthy do not receive the same benefit from aspirin as men do. There is no concrete answer to it nonetheless.
For patient : should be on liquid diet as much as possible for recovering soon.

Good luck.
